Our last blog post, “Painting the Walls,” offered you an initial approach to choosing among what can seem like endless choices in facial rejuvenation. If you consider your face as a living room renovation project, and your skin is the room’s walls, ceiling, and floor, you’ll want to upgrade your skin first. In the earlier blog, we reviewed skin treatments such as fractional resurfacing, IPL photorejuvenation, microneedling, medical exfoliation, and a proper home skin care routine which work wonders to restore your skin’s colour, tone, and texture.
Once you are satisfied with the appearance of your skin (ie: “the walls are painted”), it is time to start thinking about restoring lost volume, rebuilding structure and contours, and enhancing your features. We like to think of this, in terms of your renovation project, as “moving in the furniture.”
Profound® Radiofrequency
A single Profound® Radiofrequency treatment boosts your body’s own production of the three building blocks necessary to restore volume within the skin: collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. By stimulating the synthesis of this trifecta, wrinkles, lines, and hollows can be filled in and softened, and the skin gains a suppleness and bounce that comes from deep below its surface. One treatment provides, on average, 37% the result of surgical intervention (ie: face or neck lift) for problems such as skin laxity, wrinkles, jowls, and “turkey neck,” with a fraction of the downtime and risks associated with surgery.
Dermal Fillers
Treating ageing, and more broadly, facial enhancement has developed far beyond the possibility of smoothing lines, wrinkles and folds. Soft tissue/dermal fillers such as JuvedermTM restore lost volume to the forehead and temples, cheeks, jawline, chin and mouth area. Dermal fillers can also be used to reshape or enhance lips, lighten dark under-eye circles and other forms of eye hollowing and to fill in some scars. Noses can be straightened non-surgically, sagging earlobes renewed, and boney, veiny hands softened.
Belkyra™
The natural enzyme, Belkyra™, can go a long way in defining the jawline and enhancing the angles of the face. This fat-reducing treatment designed for treating of the submental region, otherwise known as the dreaded “double chin.” A series of treatments can substantially reduce submental fullness, improving the appearance of the neck, jaw, and chin, and restoring overall balance to facial features.
